May the Fourth be With You (TM & © Lucasfilm Ltd. All Rights Reserved)

To my fellow Jedis, Happy Star Wars Day!

On this day, I’d like to raise awareness about how to use the force as a wellness technique. Let’s first define what the force is. As Obi-Wan once explained to Luke, in Episode IV, the force is...

“"an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together."

So, how can we use this principle everyday on earth? First, we must understand this principle as a spiritual connection to everything around you- your daily environments, your relationships, your overall wellness, etc. You use this connection, the force, as a way to guide you to better yourself and everything around you.

Yes, I also wish we could use the force to levitate objects, manipulate others and see things before they happen, but that doesn't mean that this spiritual connection cannot be a powerful one. Maintaining this spiritual connection can be extremely beneficial while:

-Risk-taking

-Embracing positive emotions

-Asking for help

Below are a few ways how to use the force as a way to better uncomfortable and stressful situations in life.

Risk-Taking

“Never tell me the odds.”- Han Solo

Sometimes, the fear of not being successful can stop an individual from trying in the first place. Without knowing if your decisions will result in a desired outcome can stop you from taking those steps towards your ideal future. Once you take the focus off the possible failures, obstacles or difficulties, a clearer vision of what decisions you need to take will appear.

“Do or do not; there is no try.” -Yoda

One of the habits that can derail flourishing is overthinking. If you want to take an appropriate risk towards your goal accomplishments, then take those risks. Set some short-term and long-term goals towards your ideal self. Not sure which short-term or long-term risks you should be taking? Let’s work together to resist overthinking and place you on a path to flourishing.

“I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

Fill in the blank…

“For years I’ve tried to _____”

What’s your answer? What have you been meaning to get started but haven’t found the perfect timing or position. Pro-tip: find the happiness in your life, reflect that positivity into the risk-taking you're not 100% certain about.

Spreading Positive Emotions

“I love you.” -Leia

“I know.” -Han Solo

Leia had the courage to admit her feelings to Han. Love, positive emotions, and positive relationships are pillars of flourishing. How in touch are you with your emotional intelligence? Do you recognize and manage your emotions correctly? Learn more about how your behavior in affected by how you manage your emotions.

“The Force is strong in your family.” -Yoda.

You are much stronger than you think. You wouldn’t have been so successful and creative if you weren’t. Don’t doubt yourself. Elude your confidence and determination in your daily activities. The more confident you feel, the more confident you will become.

Asking For Help

“Help me, Obi-Wan; you’re my only hope.” -Leia

Are you tempted to think that a close friend or coach is you’re only hope towards wellness? Well, that’s no entirely true. Asking for help to get through a challenging time is always recommended. However, you already know how to change, you just need to be reminded. Let’s chat if you have any questions how my compassionate coaching works.

And I want to leave you will this…

“The Force will be with you, always.” -Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan knew that Luke had the Force within him, without any training. To carry the metaphor to conclusion, you also have this wellness technique within you. Use the Force to flourish by following Luke’s lead and displaying gratitude, courage, resilience, optimism, and mindfulness.
